Tracking Changes in Microsoft Word

This feature allows multiple modifications to a document, yet preserves the original document in the event you want to revert to it.

To activate it, select View, Toolbars and click on Reviewing. (see figure 1) Depending on the version of MSOffice you use, this will place two sets of icons grouped together on the toolbar. The one that looks like the State of Georgia with red, horizontal stripes ( ) is the off/on toggle switch. The yellow note ( ) is clicked on for insertion of a comment, which will appear either in the margin (XP) or at the bottom of the page (2000).

You have the option of accepting or rejecting the recommended changes. Move the mouse pointer over the insertion or deletion and right click. There you can act on the suggestion.

To change the way the document appears on your screen, click on Tools, Options, Track Changes. At this point you can change the colors and other details of the way you see it when it is used.
